Alyssa’s Story:
I came to birth work through my own experiences with childbirth and the realization that something essential was missing in the support I received during that time. Those experiences deepened my understanding of how vital it is for birthing people to feel seen, heard, and fully supported—not just medically, but emotionally and relationally as well. Women have supported women through birth since the beginning of time, and I felt called to help create the kind of space I once needed myself. Coupled with my background as a maternal mental health therapist, birth work felt like a natural and meaningful extension of my desire to support individuals during one of life’s most vulnerable and transformative moments.
Birth work, to me, means holding space without judgment, offering steady support, and helping clients feel confident in their bodies, voices, and decisions. I believe birth is not something to be controlled, but something to be supported—with compassion, evidence-based information, and trust in the birthing person’s intuition. My philosophy is rooted in autonomy, consent, and meeting each family exactly where they are, whether they desire a highly medicalized birth, an unmedicated birth, or something in between.
I serve pregnant individuals and families in the Reno area (hopefully expanding soon), providing emotional, educational, and advocacy-based support throughout pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. I am especially passionate about supporting those navigating anxiety, trauma histories, major life transitions, or complex family dynamics, and I bring a calm, grounded, and trauma-informed approach to my work.
Outside of birth work, I enjoy crocheting, spending time with my family, meeting friends for coffee/kid hang-out dates, and engaging in activities that help me stay present and connected.
