Jesse’s Story:
For more than three decades, I have supported individuals and families through some of life’s most vulnerable moments. My journey began at age 17, when I worked as a substitute at my mother’s care home, helping care for five men living with various mental health conditions. That experience taught me that healthcare is about more than treatment it is about dignity, compassion, and being present when people need support most.
I went on to earn a degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant and worked for several years at a local hospital, specializing in acute care for cardiac, orthopedic, and geriatric patients.
Although I loved my work, I wanted to do more. founded Oahu’s first professional NEMT (Non-Emergency Medical Transportation) company, We transported patients to routine medical appointments to bring hospice patients home. I was proud when many former employees went on to start their own NEMT companies.
During the final years of operating my business, I specialized in transporting hospice patients. These cases were often complex and sensitive, requiring patience, compassion, and exceptional care.
Wanting to better understand what happens when hospice care ends, I became a funeral director at a local mortuary. I found great meaning in helping families through one of the most difficult times in their lives. This experience gave me a deeper perspective on life, death, caregiving, and compassionate service.
After nearly 30 years in business, my wife and I moved to the mainland to be closer to our children.
Today, I draw on every chapter of my journey—from caring for residents and treating hospital patients to transporting hospice patients and supporting families after death. These experiences have shaped my belief that exceptional careis not only about meeting physical needs; it is also about protecting dignity, easing fear, and honoring each person’s story. My goal is give compassionate care when it matters the most.
