Holistic Birth Doula Training Scholarship

Course Description:

This doula training program provides a comprehensive, hybrid training to aspiring doulas in Nevada that will equip them with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to sustain a doula business and practice, and provide compassionate, holistic support to individuals and families during pregnancy, childbirth, and the early postpartum time.

Students will participate in weekly live Zoom classes and complete asynchronous online modules with readings, reflections, and resource creation. The course requires steady engagement, weekly assignments, and a final project designed to give students a portfolio of client-facing resources they can use in practice.

    • History of birth and modern birth culture; the doula’s role and scope

    • Trauma-informed care, communication skills, advocacy for clients, and nervous system regulation

    • Prenatal consultations, pregnancy physiology, and client support

    • Psychology and spirituality of pregnancy; supportive prenatal visits

    • Labor physiology, pelvic anatomy, pain coping strategies, and support through each stage

    • Comfort measures, non-pharmacologic pain support, and partner involvement

    • Postpartum recovery, basic lactation and infant feeding, mental health, and community resources

    • Doula business foundations: legal basics, Medicaid overview, ethics, sustainability

  • This 8-week online course blends weekly live Zoom classes with self-paced learning.

    • Live sessions: Tuesdays, Nov 11–Dec 30, 10am–2pm

    • Self-paced work: 5–7 hrs/week (video lectures, readings, reflections, discussions, resource creation)

    • Final project: Portfolio of client-facing resources demonstrating holistic and trauma-informed care

  • Cohort 1:

    • Orientation Video + Q&A on 11/4

    • Live Zoom Sessions: 11/11–12/30 (Tuesdays) 10 AM - 2 PM

    Spanish Cohort:

    • Live Zoom Sessions: Tuesdays, 11/11 - 12/9 and 12/23 - 1/20, 11:30 AM  - 2:30 PM

    Cohort 2: Jan./Feb. (dates TBD)

    Cohort 3: March/April (dates TBD)
